Wanting to book Yosemite

Sadly it looks like Yosemite Nat is booked solid for the time we can travel in late June. When I searched on the booking site Yosemite Lakes came up.

It says its 5 miles from the west gate.

Has anyone been there?
Anyone have an alternative campsite suggestion?

Haven't been there, but don't worry about the drive and closeness - grab the site and enjoy Yosemite on day trips. My sister lives in Coarsegold (south entrance) and frequently takes jaunts down to the valley floor ~ the views are fantastic! BTW, there are lots of neat/fun locations just outside of Yosemite you can also enjoy ... let it happen, don't be too structured ... and have fun!

Have look at Summerdale Camp Ground a mile outside the South Gate.

Also look at Bass Lake National Forrest campgrounds. A bit if a drive from there to the valley floor, but Yosemite is worth it. In the park using the bus service is the best way around anyway because parking is a mess. So even if you stay outside the park, all you need to do is get to the gate then take busses from there.
