Water Heater anode

How come my water heater doesn't have one? All of my other campers did but when i drained my tank it just has a plastic plug! 07 jayco 314bhds

I think the Atwood heaters don't really need them. I have had Atwood heaters (2) one for 10 years and one for almost 3 years and have never had one or a problem.

The material(specialized aluminum alloy) used to make the tank will not corrode. So, it needs no sacrificial rod.

Atwoods do not use anodes. Suburbans have to have them.

Search for other posts in this forum. Some people used them in their Attwood water heaters anyways and ended up having problems using them..

Here is my Suburban anode after 2 1/2 years full time service. It still has more time to go when looking at the remaining material thickness from the end view, but I replaced it anyway.
