Water Pump usage with park water service
When I hook up to an external water source at an RV park, everything functions fine except for the toilet, when you push on the footpedal, the pump still kicks on. Any clues? there is an underbelly on this thing that is completely sealed, I don't want to start cutting things if I don't have to.

Have to start with basics: is the pump off? Are the valves set for "city fixtures"?

Huh??? (Newbie). I just hooked it up and didn't do anything else. I assumed there was a check valve somewhere that stopped the water from running back out? But yes, the water pump is on, and I guess that was very stupid of me after all. Turn the water pump off, and problem was cured. I have to say, I bet you have learned to start with the basics the hard way, came from many moons of dealing with chimpanzees like myself?

That seems work fine and have done it like that for a week. If a valve was supposed to be turned off, the chimpanzee over here didn't do it...

Don't feel bad, there is a learning curve to each rig. I would be looking for some owners manual on your rig that may prevent any delays In Using your rig.

OK in simple format. IF hooked to a water hose source --- turn water pump off. If you have a PUP or TT, that is pretty much the only rule.
If you have a class A, you likely have a valve to either "use city water (AND) normal flow with water pump" one direction---the other direction is to "fill water tank ONLY" ++++ that means just that, turn the valve to fill water tank (while having water hose connected), after water tank is full, turn valve back to "city water/normal".
Some class C and some 5ers have that type of valve also, not all class C or 5ers have them however. Read the instructions in your booklet for complete details.

Welcome! Perhaps a model would help with feedback from like owners as there are many different setups based on model and line. Pump switch should be off regardless of model when hooked to city water.

Eagle 318RLS. I assume the 31 is for 31 feet. What the 8RLS is I don't know.

On my Designer when using the fresh water tank and not hooked to city water the setting is called "Normal" and the pump it turned on. When hooked to city water the setting is called "City Fixtures" and the pump is turned off.
I don't why Jayco can't seem to use more descriptive wording to keep confusion down. You get used to it, but it would seem more simple if they would use different terminology.

8 is probably the length of the slide at 8 ft
