What does the "W" stand for?

I have more or less figured out most of the Jayco model designation codes, haven't figured out the W. Also what is the difference between a "Flight" and "Flight SLX"?

Thanks for any replies, we had a 24' Jayco travel trailer in the '90's, now I'm picture shopping for another.

Not sure what W you are referring to.

I do know the SLX model is basically just a cheaper Jay Flight model. For instance, our Jay Flight 28BHBE can be had in the SLX model, which has some cheaper/different components like the awning for instance, or no ladder.

"W" generally means "wide" I believe. In the Jay Flight SLX series, some of the trailer models are 7' wide. Other SLX series trailers are the standard 8' wide. The "W" models use the same chassis (one piece steel I beam), floor, walls, and roof system as the regular Jay Flight trailers. The 7' trailers uses a completely different chassis The chassis is a Norco NextGen frame made of hi strength, low alloy sheet steel (formed into a box), fastened together with Huck bolts.

An example would be the QB floor plan which has no slide, bed in front, and the dinette and sofa opposite each other at the very rear of the trailer with a smaller bathroom amidship.

The same basic floor plan was available in SLX and regular Jay Flight. The SLX model was 212QBW. This was a standard 8' wide trailer instead of the narrower 7' wide trailer. The second 2 usually indicated it was a SLX Jay Flight.

The same floor plan in the regular Jay Flight models was a 21QB.

As far as the SLX and regular Jay Flight series go, there are some extras on the regular Jay Flight series (both standard and optional) that are not available on the SLX series. Some differences include only a shelf and not storage cabinets above the bed. No enclosed underbelly available. Kitchen sink faucet does not include a sprayer. Another big one is the storage under the dinette seats is only accessible by removing the seat bottoms, unlike the regular series which have access doors available on the side. Larger fresh water tanks are available on the standard Jay Flight models.

In 2018, Jayco may have dropped the "W" from model numbers.

I have the 212QBW ..... personally, i thought it was queen bed window, because of the large window in the back. As for the Flight vs Flight SLX, there are not enough extras on the Flight to justify the price difference for us ..... but, we are the type that spend most of our day outdoors, and the RV is to sleep in. Only thing the Flight has the the SLX doesn't, and i wish it did was a thermostat on the wall for the A/C, but i fixed that issue with the Airswitch, now the Roof Unit isn't constantly running!

It stands for Wide, only the models that are 8' get the letter in their model, but I do believe Jayco is dropping this nomenclature for 2018.

its definitely WIDE. I asked Jayco that question. I have the 264BHWslx.

I assume 254 is 26 feet 4 inches inside length bunk house wide.

Yes they have dropped W for 2018.

differences I have noted between Flight and slx:

no ladder
20 pound propane tanks
no cover on propane tanks
less amenities interior
lighter
less in price

It used to be that the "econo" models of the full size (8 ft wide) floor plan were called the Jay Flight "Swift" and the smaller, narrower single axle trailers were the "SLX". Jayco decided to drop the Swift name and group these 2 categories into one label - "SLX".

Because there were 2 different lines of trailer grouped under the same SLX branding, there needed to be a way to distinguish between the narrow bodies and the wide bodies. Hence the W was added to the individual names as appropriate. The W stands for Wide, meaning an 8 foot width.

While searching for a suitable floorplan I clicked on the US map west side. I found that all the models had W at the end. So I assume these models are built in the western US.

It means exactly what Skybound and I said.

The SLX line of trailers has both 7' and 8' wide models. Jayco used the letter W to note that SLX trailer was 8' wide.

I just now checked the Jay Flight SLX double axle models on the west and east maps, and the west had the W and the east did not. They were all 8' models. My local dealer's salesman was not familiar with the W designation.
