What is the clear hose attached to the water pump?

I just purchased a 2011 22FB and noticed a clear hose under the kitchen sink that is attached to the water pump on one end and open to the air on the other end. Can someone tell me what the clear hose is for? Any precautions I should take?

That would be the line that you would use to winterize your pipes with the pink RV anti-freeze. Just make sure the valve is closed if your not using it and keep it up out of the way if your going to be putting things down their. It might have another use but thats all I know its used for as I am also new to RV-ing

Nope...that is the only use....you stick it in a jug of RV antifreeze, open the valve, close the valve to the tank and it will suck it right in and winterize your pipes...

Nothing to do with it other than make sure the cut off to it is closed when not in use....

Thanks for the info. I'll have to use a flashlight to identify the valve. I didn't see it with the dim light under there. In the 22FB the pump is located under the bottom kitchen drawer.

When you get ready to winterize, that's the tube you put in the bottle of RV Antifreeze. Look at your manual under winterize and it should show which valves to open and close. Also, open your low point valves to drain the system. Once you get all the valves set, then you turn on the pump and as you open each faucet, let it run until you see the anitfreeze come out. Then do the same with each faucet. Be sure you drain the waterheater first and close the valves. You don't want to fill your waterheater with antifreeze. (This is just a brief description of the procedure.)

Here you go pictures are worth a 1,000 words...

My water pump and the two valves. The valve on the left with the pink stuff is the antifreeze valve. Then the valve onn the right is the main water line valve to the tank.

Now here is the bypass valves on the water heater so the water heater can be bypassed so you just fill the lines with anti-freeze.

And then last but not least important is the low point drains of the plumbing.

As for me I don't use anti-freeze at all now...

I puduced my own blow out plug that I can hook up to the air compressor and blow all the lines out of water.

As for the p-traps I use a shop vacuum and switch to blow and blow the water out of all the p-traps. Then using the same shop vacuum, rag and a piece a vinyl tubing I reach into and suck out all the water remaining in the water heater.

So all I need is 2 ozs of pink stuff (anti-freeze) to pour in the toilet to keep the seals moist.

Other than that the system is antifreeze free and cheap to do...

Hey Mopar Man, you sure are great with the pictures. It looks to me like you tried to quieten your water pump down somewhat. How is that working out? Mine is screwed straight to the floor and makes a pretty good noise when it kicks in. I'm thinking of taking it up and putting some carpet underneath to see how that works. Mine is alwfully hard to get to though.

I bought my Jayco in November of 2010 so i've not even had a single night in it yet... But I'll say the previous owner did the work I guess...

Pump is really quiet and hard to hear...

Wow, the ingenuity at work on this forum. I would never have thought of sucking out the water heater with a vinyl hose. That is great. I did buy a water tank adapter with a valve for an air hose though for about 50 cents. I blow mine out also but still winterize with the antifreeze. They also make small hand cranked suction pumps for gas etc which should work well on the water in the water tank also.
