Question wheel balance

does anyone balance the wheels on their travel trailer and if so does it help in towing bounce?.

I have balanced them on another rig.

I did not notice any difference but I don't ride in the rig.

Wouldn't balancing help remove a potential source of vibration?

We need Tyreguy in this thread.

If you make any changes, such as adding metal stems or metal stems and TMPS sensors, you will most likely need to balance them.

You probably wouldn't notice any difference while towing after balancing but your TT will. Vibration will eventually damage something.

They are not balanced when you buy the rig unless you do it yourself. I had my old rigs tires balanced and even used tire balancing fluid.

If a tire was really out of balance you should be able to see it in the rear view mirror. I have not balanced the tires on my new rig but will likely have them done eventually.

Even though you may not notice it... the vibration is hard on your rig... I always get mine balanced...

When we upgrade from the "E" Rated Maratons on our Pinnacle next month to the "G" Rated tires, we will get them balanced.
Unbalanced tires in some cases will also cause "Cupping" in the tire tread due the the bounce on the road.
Also the more viberation you coach chassis and frame gets going down the road, the more things will loosen up and start to come apart.
Just makes sense to me.

I agree, when I replaced and upgrade the tire on my old camper 2 years ago I had the tires balanced. Didn't notice any difference towing, but things inside the TT seemed to shift less!

Why are they not balanced initially at the factory? Is it the almighty $$ again?

I have never had trailer tires balanced. Maybe I should have Sallie ride in the trailer and see how things are.

She does pull the trailer so that could work.

Well, today I removed the trailer wheels, took them to my favorite tire shop and had them balanced. Each needed anywhere from 1 to 1.5 ounce of lead in the right spot. The tech said there may still be a small amount of vibration, because these Goodyear Marathons are not quite as round as they should be. Hopefully the TT will appreciate today’s effort.

I recently put new tires on my 18' utility trailer before a trip to Florida with it to pick up a Corvette. I balanced the tires on it. Between the new tires (cheap bias replaced by the tire manufacturer under warranty because of weather cracks) and the balancing it sure did make that trailer pull better. One tire took an ounce or so, the other three took between 3 and 4 ounces

Have always balanced trailer tires no matter how big or small the trailer. Also when trailer is new you can purchase road hazzard warranty on tires that a company sells even if you didn't buy the tires from them (Discount Tire).
Yes it cost me $10.50 per tire for a total of $42.00, but it is free replacement road hazzard not prorate.

I cant believe anyone would not want there tires balanced. Its well worth the cost because they will last longer.

This afternoon, completed the first tow with the balanced TT tires. A distance of 120 miles. I didn't expect to feel any difference in the TV. I did, however, notice it was more smooth. It was definitely worth having the TT wheels balanced. I highly recommend it.
