When adding chemicals/water to black tank...

Is there a way to manually open toilet...or do I flush it and just hold it with my GLOVED finger...will that damage mechanism?

About to go on first trip and need to add water and deodorizer/poop destroyer to the black tank...what is the best way

add water above the valve and put your deo in and flush it. It's that simple. Be sure to have a couple gallons of water in the black tank.

Holding the valve open will not damage the toilet.

I usually add the chemicals while flushing the toilet. You need plenty of water anyhow.

IF you are going to use chemicals in the toilet make sure they do not contain formaldehydes. These are banned in many parks and are hard on the environment.

I fill the bowl about 1/2 way and put the chemicals in, them flush and add a couple more gallons. After I dump it I fill the toilet with fresh water and dump it again. I have a clear 90 degree neck on the connector o I can see when it runs clean.
One more thing,. when you store the RV make sure you have water in the toilet so the rubber gasket does not dry out. I also put a bowl of water on the table in the summer when stored to keep moisture ihn the air and it helps the wood not to dry out.

I never used any chemicals in either tank. For the black tank just make sure you have plenty of water in it. You don't want the renowned turd pyramid to build up. When dumping the black I always use the Black Tank flush. Going on 3 seasons and never any stink. Grey tank never stinks. Even using the deodorant stuff or black tank chems it won't matter if you don't have enough water. When we 1st start our several day camping trip and use the toilet for the 1st time I always hold the foot pedal down extra long. I do that for 1st 3-4 flushes. It helps to get extra water in so nothing sticks to the bottom. IMO flushing the tank is key. I should note though that we miss a black tank flush once on awhile. But probably flush 8 out 10 trips. When I'm dumping the tanks I do the black 1st. While it's dumping I hookup the flush hose, then when the blacks done I open the grey valve and with the black valve open turn the black rinse hose on. Hardly adds any time to the dumping procedure. I also have a dedicated Black Tank rinse hose. You don't want to use your city water hose.
