That thread had the potential to bring out the Jayco bashers, and become argumentative. It was deleted by the staff of JOF. In the future if there are any questions regarding deleted posts or threads please PM a mod.

rules are rules and we must live by them, however I welcome Jayco bashers. I am very happy with mine and would buy another no questions asked. I welcome the opportunity to defend the Jayco brand. But once again...rules are rules.

Same. I love my trailer and think Jayco is at the top but I am still interested to hear the points owners dislike. It's like asking questions about God's existence while in church - don't be afraid to be honest!

We realize your post was not meant to bash Jaycos, and was started with good intentions. Sometimes these things drift into unfriendly waters. We prefer to prevent that before it happens if possible. Many folks have let us know that they like our forum this way, somewhat different from other forums where just about anything goes. And for those that say we only allow the positive threads, there is the "Jayco Problems and Issues" forum to tell us about any issues you may have, but also has its own rules to prevent brand bashing. The idea is to try to get possible resolution to the issues without all the "other" stuff.

Preventing the typical "flaming" that occurs on other sites is admirable, but the Net Nannying going the JOF recently is getting a bit extreme. This is the second thread in a week asking where a members posts have gone---and the nature of both threads didn't say anything extreme. In both instances the Mods deleted because of where it "could" have lead.

Personally I'd rather see specific elements of post edited with explanation. Or if its a whole thread, simply close it with an explanation. Just making things disappear with not comment or explanation, till a posters calls it out, is just a little to much censorship.

I would like to see the thread restarted but maybe use the word dislike or what would you like to be different in your trailer. This is how we chose our trailer it was from people saying the dislike about their trailer or comments like if I had of known before or next time I would have ordered this. It is helpful for people that are new or upgrading their stuff.

The following are general comments, and not pointing at any particular thread or verbage.

Most of my reading of RV forums is this one and "another" forum. The other forum has many, many contributors and I've learned a lot from it. But that other forum is frequently unpleasant to read. Not because of the facts or questions in the threads but because of the nasty, back biting, negative contest between authors to have the last word and to prove that their point of view is the only correct one; it's often a competition to show who is the most unreasonable and crabby (sorry Crabman... no insult to crabs intended). My belief is that any question or comment can be made without being nasty, and that other forum just has lost control of the behavior of nastiness. I've made lots of comments in this forum that are not complementary to Jayco and will continue to do so when I think such comments are warranted.

I do believe that posts should be removed by moderators only when absolutely necessary; I also appreciate the friendly attitudes exhibited in this forum. I hope that this forum will remain friendly and will be a place where posters can state facts, opinions, and ask questions without fear of having posts removed or of being flamed by other authors.

Guys,(and gals), in reality VERY, VERY FEW posts or threads are edited here. Sometimes many weeks go by before a moderator has to touch one. We own Jaycos, have jobs and families just like most on this forum and volunteer as mods or watch members. I understand We will never please everyone all the time, but we try our best. Please continue to enjoy the forum and as always PM one of us if you have a question about a forum issue.

I'll speak as a person who has been moderated twice (for my sometimes caustic sense of humor). Each time I was notified why my post or picture was deleted. The decision you and I have to make is if we can be OK with the boundaries that are set.

1) This is a free service and owner operated forum....2) your 1st Amendment Rights (to you US citizens out there) don't apply here. 3) You are a guest in someone else's "house"...

Personally, I can do without the drama. I'm here to learn and (hopefully) contribute constructively when I can. So....how can we resurrect this conversation?......how about thinking in terms of "pros and cons" vs "love and hate"....

I remember an interesting thread when I 1st joined.

It was something like "If you were designing a new Jayco, what would you change or modify"

Probably a similar discussion that the OP intended, but maybe the initial wording caused the thread to go off intended topic.

I agree with Crabman, few threads seem to get removed here. As long as the discussion is productive, I think the Mods are pretty fair letting the discussion continue.

I think we all try to be productive in our discussions and respectful of one another.

I am ready to learn some more from all the wonderful folks here :-)

Kind regards,
Doug

^ agreed. I love my TT but there are things i wish were a different or could change but cant due to its design. Its not hating on the name or brand, I think of it was kind of a "if I could have changed this from the design.." type thread. <my 2cents>

I smell a new thread a brewing...

My biggest concern with my 165 Sport was how low the sewer drain was.
After camping for 9 weeks, if I had to slinky the hose it wasn't a big deal.
I was also concerned about dragging in and out of driveways, but nothing yet.
Seems like about the time the drain gets close to the drive the wheels hit and lifts everything up sufficiently.

I am going to add some hooks in the bathroom and walls to hang hoodies and such.

I also want to add a counter top piece that fits on top of the stove to provide more food prep space.

My little Jayco 165 Sport did 9,000 miles and the only problem I had was my 12V converter went out.
A capacitor was the culprit. I ordered same model for a direct replacement on the road. About a 30 minute job.

All in all, I was impressed with how my unit held up over 9 weeks and 9,000 miles.

My wife put a 4" memory foam cover on the bed which made it pretty comfy.

Best regards,
Doug

Only thing I'm not crazy about in my 2013 eagle 334 rear bunk triple slide are the sofas they offer. The jack knife and the hide a bed are not the most comfortable. So I went to an rv sofa store and had them remove my hide a bed and install a flex steel theatre seating with electric recline with Kashmiri material. Also put a 24 in tv in the bedroom. Jayco eagle is a nice trailer!
