Which Bike rack for X23B?

Hello All,

New member and first post here, just upgraded from pop up to 2015 X23B. We are looking to carry our bikes on the camping trips we go on. We are towing our X23B with 2014 Nissan Pathfinder (factory installed roof rack). So far I have found two options:

1) Roof mount : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...A1C9T7ACO5T769

2) TT Mount: http://www.storeyourboard.com/rv-and...mper+Bike+Rack

We will be carrying 2-4 bikes depending on the option we go for. Option 1 will work but I do not feel comfortable carrying 4 bikes on the roof of my pathfinder. Option 2 will work better for me provided it is advisable to mount the rack in the back of X23B.

Anyone out there who has installed either or any other suggestion from experienced people out there.

Thanks

We too have an X23B and was wonder about bike rack options. We were told by the dealership the bumper wash’t designed to hold that kind of weight (4 bikes)

Option #2 definately won't work. The rear bumper simply isn't strong enough, especially for 4 bikes.

Here is one I found on CWs web-site:

The bumper is not strong enough for any type of bike rack. I have a 23B with a 2" receiver hitch welded to the frame. Currently I am using a swagman 4 place bike rack.

Thanks for the replies. Glsimms how does this rack affect your turning radius?

For your Pathfinder, your best bet may be either 1) in the trailer, or 2) on the roof of the car. Your Pathfinder is rated at 500/5000-lbs hitch and tow rating, so you really don't want to be adding any more weight to the trailer tongue.

why would you be concerned about putting 4 bikes on the roof of the TV?

I put all kinds of stuff on the roof of my car. Bikes, wet stuff,BBQ,campchairs. Load it up

Is your swagman a platform type rack or hanging rack?

I have the 2" receiver welded on and use a hanging rack -- but my girls 20" cruisers can't hang, nor can you add the spring bar between the seat post and handle bar due to the geometry of these specific Electra kids cruisers. I would like to use the swagman 4 bike platform, but they say not for use on trailers. If you are successfully doing it I might have to go "off-label" and get one to try it out.

In time the kids bike will get bigger and the geometry will change to accept the spring bar--but I am not patient.

I just bought and installed the shorter Swagman, but for a purpose other than bikes at the moment. I got tired of hauling fuel, charcoal, barbecues, lighter fluid, and my large "AstroTurf" rug under the campers bed. So I just place them in a couple of Action Packers and lash them to the racks. Perfect fit and the boxes don't weigh much at all.
