White Hawk 28dsbh might be the one!
Ok so our truck can tow 7500lbs safely for sure. we have a deal on a 2014 right now. heres my question. We opted to have a 2 door for the bathroom and gave up the bunkhouse. our kids are 10 and 7. this model has 2 double beds in the corner with a curtain. I dont know where I am going to put their clothes and stuff.....I was thinking rubbermaid totes that can stay on the bed. For those with kids and no bunkhouse where do you put everything???

Leave some of theirut stuff at home, they don't need it. Bring your stuff! We were worried at first about storage in our new WH but a little here and a little there [and totes like you said] and everything found a home. We purged a bunch of stuff we had accumulated in our 2006 TT. If you don't use it almost every trip, leave it at home. Each kid, one duffle. Problem solved.

When our kids were little they were each given a shoe box and told their all their 'stuff' outside of clothes and tolietries had to fit in there. They were each given a tote to pack their clothes in. It was such an adventure and today they are 19 and 21 and each still have their shoe boxes filled with memories of camping trips - glittery rocks, photos, uno cards, journal, etc.

You could give each kid one shelf of the wardrobe/pantry next to the fridge. The bottom section has a separate door with 2 shelves behind it. Otherwise a duffel bag it is. Our son uses a duffel bag even though we have the single top bunk with wardrobe. He sleeps on the double bottom bunk. We use the wardrobe for towels etc.

This is the primary reason we are looking to upgrade into a proper bunkhouse floor plan. We have been using either duffle bags or plastic totes in conjunction with the tiny wardrobe closet in the single over double layout. Because of the lack of storage space for our kids it's a constant mess back there. This drives me crazy, we need a little more room for organization.

Great floor plan! That is what we looked at as well.
I gotta ask.....what tow vehicle do u have that has the 7500lb tow rating? Reason I ask is mine has 8500lb rating and we couldn't get the 28dsbh due to payload issues

we have a 2003 dodge ram 1500. I called dodge with the vin number to double check. they actually told me 7800lbs. I think they underestimate numbers also because people are always going to push it.

that is better than mine...but the tongue weight on that trailer will be around 1000lbs (7500 gross vehicle weight x 13-15%). How many people go camping with you? Going to carry anything in the bed? Read this thread I started regarding buying this trailer and wanting to tow it with my ram 1500...

I read that the the hitch weight is 590lbs. I'm towing with a 2002 gmc 1500 and it tows so much nicer than my 26 bh that weighed 800 lbs less! The wide stance axles are really nice.

The 590lbs is Jayco's published "Dry" Hitch Weight (unloaded), not it's actual "Loaded" hitch weight. Figure 13% to 15% of the 28DSBH's actual "loaded" weight for the tongue weight (hitch weight).

Please note that the 7,500lb Published Tow rating on a vehicle is based on it's Curb Weight, the Actual Tow Rating will be less. The following JOF sticky may be helpful: http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...uot-Tow-Rating

Hmm not sure on it being 1000 lbs though. All I have up front is a few cans of pop in the little fridge, the BBQ grill that came with the unit, and maybe 10 lbs of misc stuff. Most of the weight of our load is in the middle to rear.

The 28DSBH is a 32ft TT, anything less than a 13% loaded tongue weight (of TT loaded weight) may compromise the TV's handling of the TT in less than ideal towing conditions.
IMO a visit to your local CAT scale will confirm all your weights and proper WDH adjustment. Here is a CAT scale "How To" for a TV/TT combination that will walk you through the steps: http://www.jaycoowners.com/showthrea...igh-Your-tt-tv
Tow safe and enjoy the 28DSBH!

To increase storage.. buy some wall hangers with pockets.. hang them with 3m hooks, also a lot of time kids are shorter than the bed they sleep in... Is there away to have some storage at the foot of the bed? In one trailer, (a pop up) we each had a rubbermaid bin and it was stored outside under the trailer. We got used to it and it was fine.

Since this thread touched on the topic of weights.......
If you're able to take your rig to a CAT scale, you will find it worth while to know exactly what the weights are. I certainly found it educational for my set-up. The White Hawk line is a lighter weight line, but nothing beats actually weighing the rig. Rustic Eagle has attached some links which will walk you through the weighing process. Give it a try!
