Hey all...grabbed a quick picture during our recent trip to Padre Island and wanted to throw it up here for a couple reasons...

1) I like looking at both of them! LOL!

2) I think the trailer is running a little high? Thoughts?



I'm at the bottom of my shank and have no way to lower it other than buy another shank. Which is fine if that is what I need to do.

The trailer was loaded as well as the truck other than no passengers. While we were heading home it was fully packed with gear, generators, gas, etc. (we ate out a lot this trip so even the food is loaded still).

I do need to make a run to the scales with this new set up but haven't made it yet...plan to hit them the next trip out, plus I just got this TT Saturday and we headed out on Sunday.

I didn't change anything out (WDH set up) from my 25BHS which had a yellow sticker at 5408 and the 28DSBH is 6071. I have a Reese Pro Series (1,000/10,000) with friction sway control. Loaded I'd think the 28DSBH is around 6,600 and I had about 500 in the bed of the truck.

So...

1) Is it high up front?
2) Do I need to move up to 1,200 pound bars?

How doe's she drive on the highway ? I think that would be the first thing to no , If she drive's fine that leave it that way , if she has a lot of sway then you will have to start playing with the set up

I have never had a problem with sway, but recently replaced #800 bars with #1200. A lot less bounce, and more weight is transferred to the front axle.

I have between 900 and 1000# on my tongue. My trailer weighs within a couple of hundred pound of yours.

A trip to the CAT Scale will definitely be a good place to start.

Drove great on the way to the coast, but had big side/head wind heading home. Lots of sway on the way home and semis seem to pull me in more than previous TT.

Yep, agree a trip to the scales is needed. I was concerned with the front height and the pull from semis...thinking maybe the 1,000 pound bars should be upgraded to 1,200.

You should measure it. Get the whole rig on as flat a piece of ground as you can find, then measure the height at the frame front and rear. The pic looks a little tongue high, but looks can be deceiving. Based solely on the pic and your description, it looks like you need to be shopping for a longer shank.

NICE looking rig, BTW! I'm looking to get a truck a lot like that in a few years, 'till then you'll excuse me for droolin' on yours!

It looks just a tad high, check it out on a scale before you go shopping. Doesn't look to bad. Thats a great looking set up

Do you have oversized tires or does the truck sit higher than other truck? I ask because I had the opposite problem when I linked up my White Hawk to my 2010 Silverado HD. I had a high rise receiver bar, but still needed to purchase a taller one to get things leveled out. The truck does not squat, but the white hawk sits a good 8 or 9 " higher than my previous TT. My WH is a 30DSRE. I typically have to use a 5x5 block or more when I level up on the site and still run the nose jack pretty high.

Nope, stock wheels and tires. This 2500 sits at least 6 inches higher than my 1500 and think that is the issue. Dealer said it was fine but I don't think they really looked too hard at it.

I'm gonna look for a longer shank and then take her to the scales...gonna take a litttle more set up time.

You probably have to go 2 more holes down (2"). New hitch drawbar is the way to go. Before you go shopping for new bars, I don't know if you can adjust the angle of the hitch head. Then put a chain link more pressure on it and see what happen. Keep your bars as level as possible.

Would have been better if you had been squ on to the trailer rather than from the front end.. but YES it looks a little high maybe 1-2" if you can get a longer shank I would go with that... better safe than sorry...
