Whitehawk 25BHS Battery charging question from newbie?

Hi there. Maybe a silly question but I'm a newbie and just getting started. I purchased a Whitehawk 25BHS a few months ago. The battery that came with it wasn't too good and friends suggested I buy two 6 volt deep cycle batteries to connect in series for dry camping so it would last longer.

I recently went camping and connected to shore power at an RV park. I noticed when I stored it after the weekend the batteries were dead. It seems they never charged when I plugged the RV in at the RV park.

Today I checked and the 30a fuse right up front near the batteries was blown so I changed it and hopefully it will charge. In reading the owner's manual - http://www.jayco.com/files/downloads...s%20Manual.pdf


I see on page 66 it talks about a "charging wizard" and a green flashing light so you know when the battery is charging. I don't have this in my fuse box. I don't see any flashing lights at all.

As I don't have this, is there any way to confirm that the shore power is charging the batteries? Thanks in advance.

Disconnect the battery leads when connected to shore power and test for voltage across those leads with an electrical meter. You'll have your answer.
