Whitehawk 27DSRL Owners

I have one on order. Going to pull with a GMC Sierra 1500 with maxtow, 6.2 liter v8 and 8 speed trans. 3.42 reared.

What are you using to tow your 27? Tow well? Like the trailer?

Thanks.

I have a 2015 27DSRL towing with my 1991 Ford Bronco and the ProPride hitch with over 6,000 miles. Love the trailer I have added a Curt receiver hitch for the Yakima bike carrier, digital thermostat and USB ports on the end table between the chairs for phone charging. The TV remote stopped working in the first year but Jayco replaced the TV, no charge. Enjoy your trailer.

We tow our 2016 27DSRL with a 2013 Ford F150 super crew that has max tow and ecoboost engine. We have a Husky Centerline WDH. We have put about 6000 miles on the rig in the last year and really like the trailer. The only issues have been fit and finish items that the dealer has taken care of.

Just make sure you get a good quality WDH with anti sway and spend the time to get it dialed in correctly and you should be okay.

We tow our 2015 with a 2004 Dodge Durango Limited with a 5.7L Hemi. Thinking about trading it in on a newer Ram 1500 with the same engine.

Same trailer (2015 model), slightly different truck. We have the smaller V8 and, of course, the 6-speed since that is what was available in 2015. The 8-speed was coming out mid-year but I didn't know that when it was ordered. Also have max towing like yours. We do have the large trailer mirrors and love them. You should have no issues with either. We tow with a Blue Ox Sway Pro WDH.

Similar setup to others for us. Towing a 2016 27DSRL with a 2010 Sierra Ext Cab 4x4 w/ 5.3L & 6sp / 3.42 gear combo. Reese dual cam WD hitch. Prodigy P3 brake control. Put a level kit in the front end of the truck to bring the nose up even with the rear when I bought the truck new and would recommend this mod to anyone considering it. Added Firestone air bags and factory towing mirrors after purchasing the TT. Trailer mods include: detachable twist-loc 30a power cable, hard-wired progressive EMS in the island between recliners, added combo power receptacle / dual USB charger to the same area, wireless remote for light above dinette, stove cover, oxygenics shower head with stainless hose, L&W tv mount in bedroom, added exterior coax jack outside front door, added blu-ray player to main tv setup, rewired entire cable system to accept dual satellite feeds. Best accessory buys for us?: portable icemaker, Winegard Pathway X2 auto dish, air fryer, clear 45^ fitting for stinky slinky hose, Weber Q modified for quick change fittings to high or low pressure LP use. Congrats on the 27DSRL purchase and welcome to the family!

I have a 2012 Sierra, Max Tow, and 6.2, and 3.73 rear end. I do not have the WH 27DSRL, however, I do have a similar Eagle Super Lite 298RLS. Same length, and slightly heavier. I will x2 the good WDH, as your tongue weight will most definitely be more than the 685lb advertised. My 298RLS loaded for an 8000 mile trip was 1050lb. The truck towed it beautifully, over the plains, and through the Rockies and Sierras. Plenty of power and great braking. Since I have an ARE fiberglass cap on my TV, and have gear in the bed as well, I am adding the Hellwig Pro series helper spring to handle that weight before I attach the trailer. It's a good TV, and should pull the White Hawk with no problem.

We love our 2017 27DSRL! Just purchased it this past October. Used it one weekend before having it winterized. Haven't towed it very far yet. We tow it with our 2017 F250 4x4. The dealer installed the Reese pro series with a friction anti-sway bar. Hate it. Will be changing it out to either the dual cam or Equalizer.

Congratulations!

Hello,

We just bought our 27DSRL... have not had a chance to take it out yet, but have friends who have one and love it.

We have a 2016 Tundra TRD 4x4 , ~10K towing, 4.30 rear end ratio, with an Eaz-Lift 1000Lb WDH. The Eaz-Lift is okay, does the job, but will probably upgrade it at some point.

This is our 3rd Jayco, 16, 19 and now 27 ft. Have pulled the 19 over the high mountains with NO problems at all. Pulling it home, was going 70 up I-25 with little to no problem. We'll see when we go over Eisenhower this summer.. that will be the real test.

Our friend has the same truck, but long bed, and has no problems pulling it all over the state.

Enjoy your new TT!

2016 27DSRL towed by 2010 F-150 Super Crew, 6.5' bed, Max Tow, 3.73 rear end ratio. I use the Eaz-Lift 1000# WDH and one Eaz-Lift Sway Control Bar. I've towed it about 3000 miles so far through Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Washington and in Columbia Gorge winds. So far, I have not had any issues towing it, though my gas mileage averages about 8-9 mpg.

Thank you to everyone for the comments about the trailer and tow vehicle. Thanks for the encouragement too.

No final build date for the truck or the trailer yet. I expect to see them end of April or in May. I was a full timer for over 8 years in a Monaco motorhome. We have missed the camping lifestyle. Will not go back to F/T. Looking forward to trying the truck and trailer combo.

Just Traded my 2006 29Y for a 2015 27DSRL

Have not taken first trip yet, but planned for this weekend. I pull mine with a 2015 F250 SuperDuty, 6.2L V8 with 6 Spd tranny, 3.73 Locking axle. Pulls easily but is a thirsty 1.5 mpg or so on NY rolling hills.

Still transferring stuff into it from the garage! Like the added living space. Hoping for many years of enjoyment.

(Oh! I hope that 1.5mpg is a typo!)

Did upgrade to the F250 6.7L Diesel and wow what a difference - now arrive refreshed rather than worn out. Also changed to a CAMCO Recurve R6 WDH

Hate it?? I have towed with a Reese hitch and friction bar for 6 years without problems and have never had a sway problem. Currently towing a 34' W Hawk with a Silverado 2500. Other than the difficulty in unhitching [not a problem with the tow bar] I am happy with the set up.

We traded the Reese in for an Andersen. Not sure if it wasn't set up right or what. It just did not perform well in the KS winds. The Andersen has done a great job and made towing a non-event for 3000 miles.

Nice to hear that yours is performing well with your TT. Wish my initial experience would have been the same. Happy camping!
