Whitehawk slide out noise question

I have a 2017 27dsrl that has one large slide. This slide is electric. When you slide it in it will make this grinding kind of noise when it is completely in. They say it is normal. A slide on my old motorhome did the same thing.

Question - his afternoon I had it out and when I brought the slide in it made the same kind of noise half wa in. Not as long and it did go away.

Any idea wheat could cause this? The trailer was not connected to electricity. It has one battery. I did connect my truck to the trailer and had the engine running to send juice to the trailer.

We have the same TT. Ours does not make a grinding sound. However, when we run the slide all the way out or pull the slide all the way in, it will make a noise indicating that it is at its limit. Kind of like a ratcheting noise. Is this possibly what you are hearing?

The ratcheting noise is normal. If it is making a noise between the beginning and end of extension and/or retraction, it could need a good lube job. And I do not mean the stuff you can see.

Our White Hawk was also making a bit of noise that started about 18 month after we bought it new. Took it to the dealer and they literally had to open up the belly insulation to get to the motor/gears to lube it. They suggested we also do the same thing. You can find travel trailer "underbelly tape" on Amazon to reseal your belly incisions.

The noise is normal when fully extended or fully retracted. Not normal anywhere in-between. According to our dealer, it is the limit switch preventing damage. Our dealer told us not to let it make the ratchet noise very long. One or two clicks only. Wish I had more info to share. Only had ours since November and still learning.

X2 what OZ said - should only make that noise at beginning and the end and then you should not allow it for long.
