Not dumb - I just never thought about it.

Now - I want to know also.

The only reason I can come up with is that you should always pull the black tank first, then the grey. Kinda like "stick the black valve pull in your face", then go hunt for the grey.

And "then go hunt for the grey" is all to true. One of my few complaints about our TT is that the grey dump valve is under the slide out. Not a big deal when towing though a dump station, but a bit of a PIA when using site sewer hookups.

Since I figured this out on my TT, I have been looking at others TT and it seems this is a very popular place for many manufactures to put the grey handle.

I'm SO glad mine isn't under the slide, and you can bet this will be on the list of features to examine on my next rig.

I'm not sure I buy the current explanation being offered for the black valve handle being so long. Primarily because that would indicate that the engineer thought about how the end user would actually use the valves, and in my experience, that just doesn't happen.

Regardless of why it is, I don't much care for it sticking out so far. It always worries me it's going to get caught on something...

And all three are under the slide thats one thing that I didnt look for when we got the Trailer.

With the handles out, the black tank handle will be longer because the black valve is bigger in diameter....it has to move out twice as much as the grey valves to open a "full port". 3" black valves, 1.5 grey valves.
Where they put them and how they are orientated is on the designers. I love the location of my 29.5bhds, the black and both grey valves are right beside one another in front of the main slide.....water inlet and black tank flush are right above that in the same spot. Makes it easy to dump and flush.

Maybe it so you don't have to reach waaay back to grab the black tank handle and maybe not have the dump hose secure!! I want to be as far away from the connections as possible when I pull the handle!! Just a thought.

I'm not really sure but I think you're right I don't want to be anywhere near that black hose connection when I pull on the handle :-) talk about mud in your face...
