Unhappy Wierd stuff in water.

We have a 2005 Jayco 29FBS and have noticed that the faucet in the kitchen, bath and toilet have what looks like chunks of minerals that build up in the toilet valve and faucet screens. There are screens on the outside inlets and as far as we can see, the stuff is originating from inside because the outside screens are clean. Can we flush out the water lines to get rid of this or what? We are using the city water connection.

Is it usually a whitish, grey color? Could just be calcium or manganize. You would need a chemical flush to get rid of all of this if that is what it is.

It is a bluish and sometimes very dark grey color. What is involved with a chemical flush and is it a diy job?

That is indeed odd...Do you have an Atwood or Suburban water heater? If it a Suburban maybe it is part of the anode.

If you have an in-line filter inside the TT, may want to check it out. Also confirm that your fresh water tank drains freely, check for any particles draining out.

I would also start with a bleach mixture system flush, and see if that clears it out a little.

If you can determine if it is in the hot and cold water lines it may help us determine the source. If only in the hot water line the water heater is suspect.

May even be part of the filter system if you have one.

Drain the water heater and all lines...

then using the the winterization connection at the pump fill the lines with vinegar. let sit for a while open the taps while still drawing vinegar... wait a bit and flush out the lines... for most of this you can bypass the water heater but if you can afford the vinegar fill it too if not just add 1 gallon to the bottom of the water heater.

this will dissolve most deposits in your water heater and lines

So I have been away for awhile but it is an Atwood water heater we have. We will try the flushing techniques and see if that helps. I think it is cold water lines because of the toilet valve stoppage. thanks for the info.

Are you using well water? Could be mineral buildup.

I have a similar situation here and I'm on city water. It a mineral buildup here according to the water department.
