Window Caulking

Have a 28bhs. Was wondering about what type of caulking to caulk around cap of window.

I would use ProFlex RV sealant. Make sure to also go down the sides, don't seal the bottom edge.

What ever you do, do not use silicone. It's a real pain to get off and can't effectively go over it with anything.

I have been working all the seams on my 165 Sport that the OP sealed with clear Silicone.

What a PITA. It gathers dirt too, so all the seals look dirty instead of nice white.

JMHO,
Doug

I have also used Proflex for these applications.

When I caulk and want it to look good, I use painters tape on each side of the line I am caulking.
Apply caulk, smooth with wet finger and remove tape.
Nice clean even line of caulking.

I recently sold a 28BHS. Had to do repair to wall under window in front bedroom due to leak around window, ruined the paneling inside. I removed the window, but you can just loosen screws inside around window frame, and installed caulking tape under the outer frame. retighten the screws and it will squeeze out excess caulk,( may need to use rubber mallet to softly tap the frame in to seat the frame against the siding) then I used thin piece of wood,(actually a sharpened popcicle stick) to cut the excess around the frame and removed unused caulk. Makes a nice looking job without having to apply regular caulk that will need to be removed later when recaulking is required. Tape caulk stays soft, so easier to repair/replace.
