Wiring under my Jayco Travel Trailer

I just bought a new 2017 Jayco Jay Flight 265rlsw and after having it home for a week I got under it to lube the slide out rails. And to my surprise there were wires just ran thru the frame and just hanging. I cant believe they leave them so exposed. So I went and bought split flex tube and wrap all the wires and tie strapped them all so to protect the wires from the outside elements and possible critters chewing them. I am just shocked at how many wires were just exposed to the out side and if a rock came up and hit the wires it could cut them. Am I just being picky or is this something that should be addressed.

Wiring under my Jayco Travel Trailer

I have an enclosed underbelly on current Jayco and have no exposed wires. Last Jayco camper didn't have enclosed underbelly but I don't remember it having any either. Can you post a pic of what yours has?

I will post some pictures tomorrow as I still have some left to wrap. I am just amazed at the wires just hanging.

Fresh water tank in our '17 212QBW will not register .... but when i look under, there are wires hanging all over, most noted is the green wire to the black tank. They could do a much better job.... i am going to do the same, get under there and attach to frame. This is the 2nd SLX i know of that the level sensors are not working!

My 2010 was the same way as far as wires going in all directions and just hanging loose.

We just got our 2017 265RLSW and when I sanitized the fresh water tank the grey water tank showed empty but I know I was full since I just emptied the fresh water into it. So I looked underneath and sure enough the ground wire wasn't attached to the frame. I attached it and the sensors works now. But, yes my wires are hanging exposed as well. I was going to do the same thing you are doing with the plastic sheath tubing. I'm even considering enclosing the belly. I haven't decided yet. It is shocking they'd leave it that way.

This is like this all the way down the trailer

This is what I am doing to help it. Im covering the wires with a double split flexible tubing to cover the wires.

Same as my Jay Feather 7 18RBM. I mentioned it to the sales person when we were purchasing the trailer and he said they'd fix it. That didn't happen, very disappointed in the dealer overall and won't be back.

When installing some backup LED lights I also saw wires running through holes in the frame without some sort of rubber grommet, a not so great way to having wiring problems.

Add to this the cheap, "Get it out the door tires" and I have reservations about build quality.

Looks like your doing a great job. I agree should not come from the factory like that...

The wires for my brakes on my 2017 Jay Flight were just hanging there waiting to be caught on something and tore off. I zip tied the slack to the axle. I myself was surprised at that
