I remember my first time using the heat and for the life of me couldnt figure out why the switch wouldnt move. I was afraid I was going to break it. I looked at my wife and told her this could be bad and I pushed as hard as I could and it switched on. Next week I replaced it with a digital thermostat.

2015 Jay Flight SLX 267BHSW...I too fretted over the pressure it took to move the on/ off thermostat switch. For what its worth, I was surprised how short the "swing" from On and Off was. I expected the lever to travel much further from the On to the Off position. Knowing this , I applied enough pressure to "click" it from each position.

Replaced mine with digital thermostat also. Much better heating and cooling consistency. Coleman replacement about $70 at Amazon.

I actually took the cover off mine the first time to see why it was so hard to flip. Some time during that first summer, I dropped a wall clock on top of it while mounting it to the wall above the thermostat and broke the thermostat, so I replaced it with a digital unit.
