The only bag awning we've had was on a Fleetwood (Coleman) pop up. If I recall, when you rolled it out, there was a metal channel on the edge, with two or three expandable poles attached inside it. These were meant to drop down, and hold the awning up. The three loose poles went from the holes in the channel to the side of the roof. They had rubber crutch tips on them to protect the side of the roof. The big thing to remember, is unzip the awning bag BEFORE you crank up the roof. Otherwise, you'll be looking for something to stand on to reach it. I hope this helps some, as yours may be different.
