20 year old canvas

What should I use on my canvas its losing its waterproofing, seems to soak water like a sponge in some areas.

many RV dealers and outdoors shops can sell you a waterproofing compound that just paints on the canvas..

CentralNH, there's two types of waterproofing available - silicone based and another kind (can't remember). If your canvas has lost that much of its waterproofing then you can likely use either product, but once you start with one type you'll need to stick with it. We had an old 1980's Starcract "Starlite" with the same issue. Waterproofing it well initially, then maintaining it once or twice a year really made a difference in keeping both us and our beds dry.

I've used the silicone aerosol type treatment on my pup with good results. I don't recall the brand- it was on sale 'somewhere' and I picked up several cans. It stinks to high heaven (and lingers till its dry), but works good. I've used it on hats, gloves, and canvas bags- seems to work well on most fabrics.

Thanks..Went to Wal mart and bought the stuff with the bright orange cap silicone based and got a couple of the colman roll-on type (like deoderant roller) seam sealer. Sooooo many people cannot belive we have a 20 yr old pop up canvas with just 3 patches on ends from stretching end braces (weak canvas over the years).

I have the stuff with the bright orange cap. Do you spray it inside the camper on the canvas for the beds and slide out?
