2003 Manual say lube, dealer says no?

Hello, we recently purchased a well loved 2003 Qwest 10x from an individual. I'm trying to get the routine maintenance up to date, and, according to the owners manual that I downloaded, the master tube of the lift system requires greasing semi annually. I called my local Jayco dealer to inquire what kind of grease is recommended, and, was informed by them not to ever lube the lift system, that it isn't needed. So, which is it? I'm leaning towards following the owner's manual, but, still need to know which kind of lube is needed. I've serviced the hubs, and, used Mystik grease on them. They were pretty dry, which leads me to believe mechanical maintenance on this little gem was an afterthought.

Also, it has a dealer installed Coleman a/c unit. It's installed where the roof vent originally was, and, the roof has a noticeable slight sag in the immediate area of the a/c. Is this normal, should there be some sort of interior supports, or am I worrying over nothing?

Thanks,
David

Welcome to JOF

Yes, the A/C units on some PUPS and HTT models with flat roofs tend to sag a little over time...., not much one can do. I would watch for any signs of moisture getting inside the PUP...., usually the A/C gasket is the root cause. Also check that the A/C mounting screws/bolts are snug.

Don't have answer in respect to the master tube lubrication, I'm sure some PUP owners will chime in.

To lube or not to lube.

I say lube. This is the advice I have gotten on maintaining my pop up and it seems to make sense to me. My rational is that the cables that raise and lower the roof will rust if the are not protected.
As to what kind of lube to use I don't know as I have always requested that the dealer do it when I take the trailer in each spring for the road inspection.

I always lubed mine, If i remember correctly, there are two grease zerks on the master tube under the camper. Do not use grease on the lift post,, spray some silicone spray on a rag and wipe the lift posts with that. Grease type for tube, white lithium works great.

Thanks for the replies. I think I will go ahead and grease it as recommended in the manual. The best I can tell, this model has the Goshen lift system, which Goshen also recommends lubing of the master system. However, I've not found any documentation confirming it is Goshen.

Lube. Use the same stuff in the gun that you use on your wheel bearings. It's not a turbine at a nuke plant or anything.
