AC install

I've just installed a Carrier Air V AC unit on my 2001 Jayco 14SO. It came pre-preped for AC. We just took out vent and installed AC per instructions. Now I've been reading a lot about a using a roof brace to prevent sagging. However, all of the Jayco 14SO's I've seen with AC, have not had a visible roof brace located inside. Also I read somewhere that Jayco has been including the roof support in the ac prep package for years. Are these supports built inside the roof? My owners manual says the roof can raise 250 lbs, and 350 lbs in travel mode. How concerned should I be about the extra weight of this AC?

Sorry I cannot help you marvinb2. I'm not familiar with those specs. I do have a question though. The AC you added, does it connect to the existing duct work or blow from the bottom. I'm considering adding a front AC Unit in our 5er. It is prewired for it. I think the duct work runs all the way to the vent, but not positive. We had a roof vent fan installed when we purchased.

Mine blows from the bottom, but Carrier does manufacture an AC for ducts.

Update: Got it from the horses mouth. I called Jayco today and they told me that indeed the roof bracing for my model and year was made in the roof. Hence, no visible bracing. She told me some earlier models pre-2000 did not have bracing. But if after 2000 and if it was prepped for AC then the roof is braced and can support the weight of the AC.

Hi I am a first time poster and looked for more info regarding this but have yet to find it. If you know of a thread on this already please direct me.

First thanks for the info on the braces, I had a Coleman I had to do braces in and wondered about this one too. Problem solved.

I recently purchased a 2000 Jayco 14so with the Superslide. Love the trailer! I read in the manual and it talks about unlocking the slide to pull it out and then locking it back in place. The only lock like things I see are the roof latches on the outside of the slide. The problem I have is the slide tends to want to come out while I am traveling. Anyone have any info on what I might be missing?

Also can you replace the hardware that the slide rolls on I think mine might be wearing out. Thanks in advance for the help. I really love this trailer already but just need to work out a few kinks first.

In the manual it says the 14SO model does not have a lock. Not sure what is causing your slideout to move while traveling though. I have not had that problem. I'd suggest calling Jayco. Their CS is very good.

I called Jayco and talked to them. The slide works like a filing cabinet he said. So it has one initial "bump" to get over to pull out and then one at the very outward position to hold it open. He said that sometimes the catches stick and need to be lubed or replaced and told me how to get the slide out and asses the situation. Thanks for the help.
