Unhappy Awning issue please help, total newbies here!

We purchased and picked up a Jayco Jay Series Baja 1270 and noticed all the way home the awning was flying up and down away from the camper, flapping in the wind. How do we prevent this? Does it just get wrapped up tighter?

As long as you have it all wrapped up into the bag it should be ok. When we had a popup I never noticed if ours flapped. I will say that it should be folded up in such a way that it is as flat as it can be against the camper rather than rolled. It make take a couple of tries to fold it correctly to fit into the bag.

Do you store the poles in the awning bag as well? IT really shouldn't be flapping around...it's too heavy for that. 12ft. awning??

Curious to know just how much flapping we talking about. Poles will help keep it down, but I don't recall leaving mine in when I had a PUP. The only pole I left in was the one that runs the entire width that the other poles connect into.

The poles are NOT in there! Maybe that is the problem. They told us they were in the back in a hunk of PVC pipe! We will put them back in the bag. They should all go in the canopy bag, correct?

The legs on my sport 8 are attached to the support that runs the 7'+- length. I noticed no flapping the last two weekends.

I am referring to the awning in the zippered bag on the side of the camper when it is being towed. I am guessing putting the poles back where they belong will help!

There should be four Velcro straps holding the rolled up canopy tight to the camper top, the bag enclosure simply is there to protect the canopy from getting wet or soiled. The Velcro straps should be secured very tightly to support the canopy in the rolled up position.

No velcro on ours. Thinking the poles is going to be our answer.

The poles should add enough weight to keep the bag down. I kept mine in the bag the whole 13 years I had it and never had the bag flap around. An awning in a long fabric bag...it'll move around a little with out any weight. That being said, my Coleman awning had a header bar made (sewn) into it. That added weight as well. I know the awning w/bag had to weigh at least 20-30lbs. with the poles.

When we had a pop up with a bag awning I always just flipped the bag up onto the roof of the camper for transport. It never fell off or flapped in the wind.

Ours had straps attached to the bag with snaps on the end that snap to the side of the trailer right behind the bag. If we forgot to do the snaps then ours would flap.
