Awning poles

Apparently, I'm not the only one who has had problems with the end pieces of the awning poles falling out and getting lost. I tried to find a replacement for them, but finally gave up and made my own. I haven't tried them out yet, but I feel pretty confident that they will work as least as well as the originals.

I've attached a picture that shows the original pieces in the poles and my replacement (both in and out of the poles). Hope this helps someone.

Had to have a couple of mine replaced recently after the poles got thrown by the wind and the ends broke off without coming out. To get them out the dealer inserts a long rod in the other end and knocks out the broken piece. That was the part I couldn't do, didn't have the rod. The replacement ends were fairly cheap but had to pay for labor.

Did they work?

Bought a 2009 Jayco 1207 and the pins were missing from the end of the awning polls... did your plan work for the Jimmy rigged ends? Any other suggestions?
