Battery Drain Question

1997 Jayco Eagle UD10 pop-up trailer

The battery, which is new, drains from fully-charged to empty within three days of non-use, unless we disconnect it or pull one of the fuses inside the trailer (the one on the right of the four fuses).

Nothing is on. Not the lights. Not the fridge. Nothing... well, except the little blinkin' light for that safety sensor (for propane leaks? carbon monoxide? whatever the heck it's for). Is there a way to disable that puppy, when you're not using the trailer anyway?

Or has anyone a better suggestion than having to disconnect the battery every time?

Would a quick disconnect on the battery work? I notice mine is going dead in storage, the gauge says about 1/3 power in about 3 weeks. 2010 297BHS

The best thing to do is install a BATTERY CUT OFF switch between your battery and TT. This will cut all power to the TT. Just remember if you have electric brakes, the BREAK AWAY switch wire gets connected directly to the battery.

The propane detector should only be drawing <0.1A. Over a month's time it will drain your battery and so it is recommended to disconnect the battery while not in use. I just pull the in-line fuse that is on the positive wire close to the battery termination.

Your battery draining in three days time indicates a problem!
Either there is indeed something else connected that is pulling current from the battery or the battery is shot and its capacity is diminished.

If you have any 12V electronic devices (TV, Radio,..?) they will have some parasitic drain. 3 days sounds a little fast tho, maybe you could take the battery tot he auto parts store and ask them to do a load test on it. Have you checked the water levels?
