Bent Frame

Good morning all.

We have a new 2017 Jayco 10SD. We have upgraded from a 1989, yes that is correct 1989, Jayco 806. Although it is only 2 feet longer, the floor plan along with the extra length is like having gone into a luxury model. Didn't even look around much as we were sold on the Jayco name and quality. Although I'm starting to think it's a perceived quality.

We have a structural defect that we can't get any attention on. Wondering if anyone else has a similar issue. As best I can determine the frame of the unit is bent just to the right of the door. With the unit level, the left of the door is level, the door area itself is level, but to the right of the door it falls off level. The other indicator is the actual spacing for the door. Between the distance at floor level and the distance at the top of the side wall, there is an extra 3/16". May not sound like much but enough to cause the door not to sit properly, leaving a gap between it and the fabric. Visually it stands out like a sore thumb so not sure how it got past factory inspection.

Would love to hear from you if you do have an issue like this. Wondering if there may have been a bad batch of frames at one time or are we just "lucky"...

Suggest you go to a dealer lot with your level and tape measure. Check out several similar models as yours to see if your unit is a one off or something that is designed that way for some unknown reason. After collecting your measurements and talking to Jayco factory customer service; you will be ready to visit your local dealer for an inspection. Since it is a new unit it will be a warrantee issue. The reason for doing your homework is because you will probably run into "no big deal" kind of response from the dealer. Armed with your info it will be easy to show that it is not normal and that Jayco will approve fixing it under warrantee. If its brand new [like you just brought it home} I would be inclined to ask for a replacement rather than a repair.

This is perfect advice. Do your homework and be prepared to argue your case...

The door on my 1207 was the same way, I think they cut the door opening a little wider on the right hand side. Why is the million dollar question.

If the extra gap is at the top it may be to allow for frame flex when using the front and rear stabilizers.
