Brand new Leisure 2 way pump water coming out fresh water intake hole

Bought a brand new 2 way Leisure hand pump, we don't use fresh water so nothing is attached to that connection but the city water leaks from it when we push the handle down to use the city water . Should we plug it and if so where do we find the right size plug? The instructions mention it can be plugged but give us no information on how to do it.
