camping supplies
We just bought our first camper.* Unfortunately we will not have time to camp this year before it is too cold. This gives me time to get everything we need/want.* So my question is what kind of stuff does everyone have to have when they camp with their pup?* Thanks ahead of time for all your input.* Can't wait for spring.

You can always setup in the back yard and do a full night camping off the power grid run (no cheating) and figure out what you are going to need pretty quick...
Its great training on how everything is suppose to work to before you actually hit the trail.
My first purchase was a 2KW Honda Generator and then I beefed up the battery system to run from smart mode converter/charger.

Dry run in the back yard was the best thing we have done. We knew a lot of stuff that we wanted to put in our TT, but dry run at home proved we didn't have everything covered.

What type of camper does make a big difference in what you can and will want to bring. Typically the bigger the trailer the more load capacity you have, which opens the door to allowing more or heavier stuff. In a PU (popup) you just do not have much space, so having multipurpose items is very helpful.
First thing you need is a notebook and a pencil. Then start off light and with each trip add a few additional things. For us, we looked first at sleeping, and our required bedding, then bathing items, then eating items including what it takes to make the meals. As we were planning our meals that first year, we thought do we have the correct utensils and items to make whatever it is, and what backup plans can we do if something breaks, gets dirty, or lost. Most items in our HTT stay there all year, if we need something special for a meal, then we will bring it along for the one trip.
Think about how you plan to use the trailer, full hookups or boondocking, a cross between the two. How are you going to power things, get water (aka you need a food grade garden hose). How are you going to level the unit.
Most critical, and probably the most overlooked, are what are your emergency plans. How are you going to change a tire along the side of a busy hiway. Your TV jack probably will not work, nor will the lug nut wrench in your TV. What about blown 12V fuses, you will want a few spares of each size, as you never just blow one, you will blow about 3-4 until you figure out why it is happening. A very small basic tool box is all you need.
Our HTT is setup so all we have to do is load in perishable food items, hook up and go. It is almost always ready to go.

A lot of what you need will not be known until you find out for yourself. An important lesson to learn is what you DON't need. That will be determined by your lifestyle and how much your truck can pull.

There's a good app called "rv checklist". It has checklists for lots of things we pack, maintainence schedules, reservations, etc. It's a free download.

Try giving Wunderlist a go. It's free and works well. You can build any type of list you want, share with others, make it public, etc. I use it all the time for stuff I need at the store, maintaining my honey-dos, etc.
Something else to consider... when building your list, you'll find you need certain things every time you go camping so they'll pretty much stay in the camper whereas other items like food, drinking water, beer, etc. will have to be moved in and out as needed.

If you do some backyard camping, you will figure out how-and-where your stored items will be the most useful. Also, once you're setup, you will have the space under the beds to work with. It's outdoors, but covered.

one thing to remember as we have done it, and it gets messy is if you have liquid dish soap or hand soap store it in a container or bring it home .... when it gets hot it makes a mess
