Canvas torn from mount by entry door

Any advice? I have a few ideas, but I'm curious to see what everyone else might have done.

If it's the verticle slit, my sister used Eternabond tape inside and out. Lasted about 8 years.

I cut the piece out, bought anew section at the dealership and used an upholstery needle to hand sew the piece back on.

They sell just the vinyl beading? By the foot, or what?
