Converter Dead?

Here is the situation....On my Initial voyage with my NTM 1998 Jayco Heritage Rushmore. At the campsite, after I plugged in to the power my A/C worked! and the plugged worked! However mo interior lights ;(
I tried to jump start the battery and the lights worked for 5 minutes after I unplugged the cables then died.
The next morning I went and got a new battery and the lights worked fine all day and night.
I was wondering if my Converter need to be replaced? Or just needed a new battery. I don't want to be in the same situation again.
Please help.

Hello Finderat97! Welcome to the Jayco Forums - glad you found us! If you get a second, please feel free to come over to the new member area and introduce yourself.

From what you describe, your converter is not supplying power to your 12 volt systems or charging you battery. Have you checked all of your breakers to ensure that one is not tripped? Your 12 volt system should work even with a not so good battery (most work with no battery at all), so I would not replace the battery at this point.

As a stopgap, you can put an standard battery charger on the battery to keep you going while you are camping.

To help understand your RV's 110/120V & 12V system and how "current" flows around, surf below picture.

Based on our RV's situation, it sounds like the 110/120V side is live. If 12V side is dead, ensure the AC/DC Convertor is plugged into its 110/120V outlet (not being funny but `sometimes` its plug can vibrate out during rough road trips), its 110/120V breaker is ON and its 12V fuses are ok. Ensure all looks good and 110/120V is going to its plug. With disconnected "onboard" 12V battery (to stop 12V back feeding), take a simple 12V Pen light (aka: 12V pen probe) and test its 12V "out put" ports (of the AC/DC Convertor). These ports might be white and black. Or, red and white. Or, black and white. Regardless, often thick 8 or 6 guage wires are connected into each output port. If NO 12V power coming out the AC/DC Convertor's 12V ports, then the AC/DC Convertor is shot. View diagram to understand "current flow" on both its 110/120V and 12V sides.

Hope this helps...

Thanks for the responses. I'm trying to determine if the interior fuse is blown also.
I can't seem to find it, nor find where the AC/DC Converter can be plugged in?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
