help me find my vin
I puchased m jayco from a family friend, its an older model and I have no idea where the vin is. The previous owners did not have it registered but I need to have everything legal. A year model would also help, I do know that it is a cardinal.sorry about the pictures its too cold for me to open it up right now. I know jayco.com says the vin should be on the roadside wall of the tongue but there isn't much left on there

Welcome to the site!
try some fine grit sandpaper on the frame where the vin should be. You may be able to remove enough paint / rust / grime to see the vin.
good luck

The vin will be in multiple places. There should be a tag attached to the tongue somewhere that will have it on it. But on my brothers late 80’s model it is nearly impossible to read. If there is a cargo hold with a sticker on it, there would be a good chance it is listed there. There may be a vin number inside one of the cabinets. I have found a copy of my vin under my HTT near the right rear corner.
Greenenvy1 is correct, if you located it stamped on the frame a little fine sandpaper will revel it.

Did the family member have it the whole time? Name of last person it was registered to? Or maybe where any work was done on it? Jayco has to maintain a database of owners in-case there is a recall. Might be a last resort way.
Here is the FAQ straight from Jayco website
Where is my Jayco vehicle identification number and what does it look like?
The Jayco, Inc. vehicle identification number (VIN) is 17 digits long and for towable products is located on the lower side of the “road side” sidewall. Motorized products have the VIN decal located on driver’s door jamb. The VIN is also usually indicated on sales paperwork you received from your selling dealer. The Jayco VIN begins with the digits; “1UJ…”

On my 1990 it's on top of the roadside frame rail. I'd take a pic for you but its under about 3 feet of snow at the moment.

Curbside and roadside. So the roadside is the drive’s side of the camper.

Allrght that's all cleared up, any specific places besids just the roadside on the tongue, because one thing I saw said the wheel hub support bar underneath, I looked and everything but I'm just running out of ideas, also because its an older camper I'm afraid they only put the vin on a sticker and now its lost.

Did you try sending Jayco an email with pics and questions? They helped me out with a truck camper I had a few years ago.

It should be on the title.

If you don't have a title you can't sell it anyhow.

Most times it along with other important info is on the drivers side of the trailer toward the front. A placard or sticker.
And, this is not related to the original thread. Perhaps you could start another with that question. This diverts the original.

Not exactly sure on a 98. But I bet they are in multiple places. There should be a yellow outside on the streetside, up near the front of the 5ver. On our screen door has a yellow sticker that has it too. I have found a nice white label under our tt. It was in the right rear corner. Attached to the floor. I had to be right under it looking straight up to see it. This label was fairly large. I suspect the letters were about 1/2" tall.

Surely you will need a vin to get a tag for it.

Both my pup and my HTT also had/have the VIN on a plate attached to a main frame crossmember. In both cases it was located aft of the axle, and facing rearward. Both of these were a lot easier to read than the VIN on the frame near the tongue. Requires crawling under the unit a bit possibly with a flashlight to see it. YMMV.

scott, The VIN on a towable Jayco is almost always on the Road side lower side panel and also the bill of sale/registration....
