Jayco Lift System, why no external safety supports?

Why do Jayco models not include support braces/poles/posts to serve as a back-up safety feature for the lift system? It seems like a common sense safety feature to include (and other manufacturers do include). ...unless there is some truely innovative feature in the Jayco lift system that provides a similar redundancy.

Is there something better about some of this design configuration that make it safer than others? ...i.e., safer to the point that having external supports doesn't really add any additional safety factor?

Our '08 Jayco 1206 doesn't have safety supports (at least not that I know of) and I've often wondered if I should somehow rig some up. But then I've also wondered if maybe its single-piece door frame might be a better safety support than a split door (two-piece) configuration that I've seen on some other brands?

Thoughts?

I had 2 Coleman PU trailers and neither had any type of back up safety system. I had a lift cable break and the roof did not come down. I don't think you need to worry about it.

I used to own a Rockwood Premier Pop Up that had those safety brackets, and I always used them - just in case.

For years there has been a "hidden safety" incorporated into the lifter system.

What is the hidden safety? I was not aware of it.

Numerous years ago JAYCO and STARCRAFT did away with the old safety bars that had to be installed on opposing corners. I can't tell you exactly what they did, but there is supposed to be some kind of a safety device incorporated into the corner posts that will not let the roof fall suddenly.

I wonder why they don't advertise such a safety system, if it exist. I will have to ask my dealer the next time I stop in.

Our 2011 Jayco Swan (Australian model) came with metal bars to put in the diagonal opposing corners. If you're concerned it wouldn't be too hard to find/make similar bars with rubber stoppers on each end.

That is my only compaint with the jayco trailers is the lift systems. 1 of my popups the roof sways to the side because the lift bars are worn out. I went to lowes and bought 1/2" angle iron and 3 pipe clamps and use them as a stiffener to the lifts and that works great for the time being till i can get them replaced. Havent looked into the cost of that yet

Hey friends, I can't get the roof to lower on my 2011 Jayco 1006. I tried using the manual crank but that didn't work. The two switches inside the entry that allow the roof to raise and lower instead of using the remote don't work either. I need to get the roof down so i can move the pup. Any ideas?

Did you go up a little before trying to crank it down?
