Lights not working on Battery

New owner of a Jayco Sport Series 10SD.
Just bought a two weeks ago and set it up on my driveway to make sure I knew what I was doing when I take it out for the first time.

I tried to run the lights just on battery but no go. No lights turned on. (didn't try anything else probably should have)

Then I plugged it into shore power to my garage (15amps) and everything worked, lights, fridge etc.

I looked at my converter and had a flashing red light I believe for the battery. So today went out bought some fuses and replaced that one and the light went away when plugged in. I then unplugged the shore power and still no lights.

Switched the fuse near the battery (looked fine regardless) and still no go. Is there anything else to try? I'm picking up a volt meter and battery charger tomorrow from my dad to make sure my battery is not dead and that it holds a charge.

After I closed it up realized my reverse battery fuse was bent...didn't look blown but should have tried to replace that one to see what it would do. Would I get power from the battery if the reverse battery fuse was blown? I'm guessing not.

Thanks.

Reverse fuses blown is a common problem. It's there to protect the converter from it's owner. You may need to verify that the battery is connected properly an replace the fuses.
I purchased some indicator fuses from a auto store that blink when they are blown.

Also getting a VOM and learn to use and it will save you a lot of headaches.

Norty,

I'll test that fuse later but...I would imagine that if that fuse was blown that my 12 Volt lights, water pump wouldn't run either when plugged into shore power?
