Major cross country looking for advice.

I'm planning to take my grandson (age16) on a road trip to Alaska in August. I lived there for 4 years and want to share the experience with him. We do something like this each summer.
Anyway I don't want to take my TT so I bought a USED Jayco 1206 and am getting it ready for the trip. Brakes , tires, canvas repair, etc. I plan on two spares, set of wheel bearings, and was wondering if there are any suggestions some of you can share.
I am aware that set-up and tear-down may get old but I think we can shorten that after a little practice. Doing it in the rain I'm not looking forward to.
Someone on one of the other boards said some campgrounds will not allow PUPs because of bears. Anyone know anything about this? Appreciate any suggestions.
BTW I'm pulling with a half ton so no issues with load or space.

I know that in many National Parks soft sided are prohibited exactly for that reason.

Make sure your passports are up to date for easy border crossings and take extra fuel with you for your tv

When we had our PUP we packed our clothes in Rubbermaid storage totes with our names on them. We measured to distance from the floor to the bottom of the bed slides when all closed up to know how tall of bins to get or how many we could stack up on the floor. Also put food in bins. It made set up and tear down much easier when you have to do it every day. Just moved the bins to the dinette or counter when set up and back to floor then close up.

I have heard that some campgrounds will temporarily restrict tent camping if there is bear activity in or near it. But generally, tents are allowed as far as I know. Buy the Milepost magazine and it will have lots of good information about the route up through Yukon and into Alaska.

Some good information and I guess I should have provided more info myself. I drove the Alcan highway (summer and winter) back when it was all gravel in the mid 70s so already have a current Milepost. My grandson and I have entered Canada before but I know things do change. Still at age 16 he's already 6' 2" so I'm more likely the one being abducted and he's more afraid of girls than bears.
I am concerned however that the pup tires and bearings will hold up for 10,000 miles.
