new to group and pop ups

Hello all. I am going to be looking at a 2008 1207 that looks great. As I am new to pop ups, (I have a home built teardrop and a 66 Scotty) I was wondering what areas on the trailer I should look close at. Every make/model has there weak points, just not sure where they are. Thanks for the help and info.

Roof, floor, canvas and if three is a separate storage box. Basically anywhere that water could get in. Don't forget to test all of the appliances/ water systems.

Do you know the previous owner???? big help if you do. If a stranger, be very careful and enter any transaction with eyes wide open. Pop-ups are like any RV, they can be made to look very nice and still have serious hidden problems.

Have the current owner crank up the top and complete a set up and take down. It should go smoothly without the owner having to tweak the process with extra steps. Watch the fit of the door, bed braces, a level top. Do your research and have a good feel for the price range for this unit. Don't expect to pay "retail" which is the price you would expect to pay on a dealer lot. Units that are in tip top shape and were pampered by the previous owners can command a premium price, but don't go over the sale by owner price range.

George,

Welcome to JOF

If the tires are original they may be getting ready for replacement. If you do purchase the PUP, I would have the brakes inspected/adjusted and the bearings packed.

My 2008 Starcraft 14RT is still doing great. Have drug it all over the area here in Virginia from the mountains to the East Coast and many points to the South and as far West as OKLA and TEXAS. Still going strong...

The owner works at the same place my wife works, but we do not know him. I did check the NADA book value and from the stuff it has and the condition it is it is defiantly riced right. It has both tables, the screen room(never used), both grills ,etc. He says it has been stored in side during the winters ...?.I most likely will be replacing the tires which are the 13 inch ones. Right now it is $4500, but was thinking offer $4000 cash.
