Novice question #5: Cassette toilet

Ok, here goes with my next novice question. How far in advance of a trip can you prep the cassette toilet (Thetford) provided it isn't used until camp is set up? By this, I mean, add the flush water and the treatment to the holding tank. Essentially have it ready to use. Of course, this is assuming, that temps are not freezing. Thanks for the input!

The last PUP we had with a cassette, got treated with chemical and filled with flush water the day we left to camp.

During camping season I would keep the flush tank filled all the time. I would also dump the holding tank after each camping trip and add some water and chemical. That was with my 2000 Heritage

I've left chemical in mine for at least a week (prepped it, went camping, didn't use it, went again next weekend). My advice is to use Aqua Chem. It's way better than the West Marine store brand, at the very least.

I leave the flush tank with whatever's in there until I think it might freeze, and top off before leaving / after arriving / once it runs out.
