Power converter on 1994 Jayco 1206

Hello folks. I have been looking at this site since we bought the old tent camper 3 months ago. I have got tons of info on fixing it back up. We are almost there but now I think we have another problem. The power converter seems to be going out. The model is a Carson CP20 FKCR2. It buzzes LOUD and sometimes I can mess with the reset buttons and get it to come on. Yesterday we set it back up to do some more work on it. I never got the 12 volt side to reset. I saw on here where some people recommend the WFCO 8725P as a replacement for it. Is this my best option??

Another question is, if I buy this converter can I add a battery up on the tounge to power the lights and furnace etc. when I don't have shore power. Will this converter charge the battery?

The new converter you are asking about is designed to be used with a battery to provide power when you boon-dock and do not have shore power. It will then charge your battery when on shore power. Don't know why it wouldn't be a good investment, but I've not had any personal experience with that model.

Thanks. I'm going to check some more things if I ever get a chance to set it back up. We got 4 inches of sleet Saturday and it is still on the ground.
