Power lift system override?

Our new 1007 has a power lift system. Is there a way to override the power winch to manually raise or lower the roof? Good to know just in case.

I would imagine there HAS TO BE a manual override feature. Too many things can go wrong. Is there a hole in the back anywhere? I say you crawl under that sucker and trace the cables. They have to lead to a cammed lift somewhere. Check where the lift motor is too. Alot of times, manual overrides are located at the lift motor.

on mine there is a small fitting on the back of the motor so you can do this with a drill ..... slow as **** and i hope it never goes down ... no no real over ride to say the least

I have the same problem on my 2015 Jayco 1209SC. On the rear of the trailer is a small access door for raising or lowering the roof manually and the dealer told me there was a crank in the under seat storage for doing this but when I got home there was no crank and nothing obvious inside the access door to connect a crank to. I went back to the dealer who says he will have to check with Jayco and call me. He has still not called and has avoided my calls to him.

The view through the access door allows you to see the motor with a small nut on the rotor. Is this what you are supposed to connect a drill to to raise or lower the roof? If so does anybody know what size nut this is and how long an extension I would need? The trailer is in storage right now so I am not able to measure.

Hex socket I got one at Sears I needed a 24" extent uo. For my 1207

It's very very slow going if you use this to lower it at first I thought it was not moving at all that's how slow it is

I got stuck last year when my battery went dead on my 1007. It was said before, it goes so slow, I didn't think it was working.

I wound up jumping the battery from my pickup in order to use the power lift.

For the convenience, I'd almost not have it just for this reason. I'm a redundantcy kind of guy, and this makes me feel naked.

Just got to experience the "manual override" this past weekend as the roof wouldn't go down. When we bought our 2015 Jayco 1207 last year I was most nervous about the remote/electric raise and lower feature. And unfortunately, my fears have been confirmed... twice. Shame on me for not being prepared (my Boy Scout leaders would have scolded me), but since it was "new", I didn't bring along the drill, extension and 1/4" bit in case I had to raise/lower the roof due to electronic failure. So I was doing this with a ratchet. FYI; the motor is geared to move the roof 1" for every 80 rotations. That equals a long time and sore shoulders. My dealer (Burlington RV in SE Wisconsin... who have been great) DID explain the need for a drill to manually raise and lower the roof. Unfortunately, I assumed that Jayco was smarter than me and the system was solid. I've been bit twice now and am awaiting a call back from Jayco to see if I can have my 2015 1207 retrofitted with an old school crank.

Thanks to all for the responses. The lift system on our 2016 1007ud is located on the front on the tongue and does not have a fob like the earlier models. The Dutton-Lainson winch is enclosed in a plastic cover where the rocker switch is located, and the power unit is external. Attaching photos.

The dealer tried to locate a hand crank but was unable to find one. A socket will fit over the extension, but it is very hard to turn. I was hoping for a manual crank handle but not sure we can crank it without a strong power drill which we don't have. Anybody found a manual solution for this configuration?

So, after 30 minutes on hold with Jayco this morning finally got through to level 1 support. She took my info and referred me to level 2 who will call me back.

Didn't expect to need my VIN number when I called, thank goodness we were registered!

What did the tech tell you regarding the hand crank. I have a 2016 1007UD that failed to work....on my inaugural trip with the camper. I had to hand crank it with a pair of vise grips.

Has this item been resolved. I have a 1007UD (2016) with the same motor.
the pin on the outside of the control box is 7/16" and it can hardly be turned with a wrench. A drill (20v Dewalt) can not crank it at all. There must be a way other than that. I have tried disconnecting the battery but the motor is locked in place. What happens if I disconnect the motor from the winch?
