right turn signal

on the used pop up I just purchased the right turn signal does not work. I have replaced the bulb and checked the signal from The Tv and it is good. Anyone know where the wires go and how to go about testing. I get nothing from a 12volt light tester with ground connected to the rear bumper. Is there a better way to troubleshoot. There are three wires to the light, black, white and green. the tail light works. Thanks.

Check the wires on the tow vehicle plug connection with your 12 volt light tester. May be there and not the trailer.

The right turn/signal wire will be the green one. If the wires run along the frame underneath, it'll be easier to trace. If they're buried in the camper, it'll be where you can find them to test. Turn on the right signal on the TV, and the tester will flash. Easier than holding the brake pedal. Just make sure the ground is really good. Been stumped by my test light many times.

Another factor to consider, are the turn signal bulbs on your tow vehicle seperate from your tail light bulbs?

Some older units needed an adaptor to go to the trailer lights.

They are seperate and I do have an adapter. Hooked up to my utility trailer and it works as it should so I am sure it is a camper problem. I will trace the green wire til I get a signal and replace what I have to.

On the 2 Jayco pop-ups I've owned each tail light had it's own ground wire that was connected to a piece of small metal behind the back cap. I pulled the tail lights out and reran the ground for each directly to the frame. That solved my problems with the tail lights.

Pulled the light off the back and found 3 splices with the typical connectors. The green wire is spliced to a brown wire that goes into the camper it has no power to it. I have 12v on the tail light and it works, that tells me the ground is good. I have to trace the brown wire and find the problem. Maybe tomorrow if it is not too hot. 76 YO and can't take much heat.

Amazing how simple things are sometime. I installed a 7 pin plug on my car instead of the flat to round Adapter I used to get it home. Turn signals now work, Now to get a brake controller and I will be ready to go.
