We were traveling on I75 on Thursday, heading north to Chattenooga when we encountered a fierce thunderstorm. Not to worry, I thought, our windshield wipers are more than capable of clearing the screen, thank goodness we don't have those wipers that fail or fall off - wrong! Within 5 minutes the driver's side wiper died and pointed downward. Luckily my DH has x-Ray vision(not) and was able to steer Bartleby off the freeway, down the exit ramp and into the spacious forecourt of a Kangaroo gas station! We stayed there for 20 minutes until the rain eased enough to allow Colin to venture out into the flood. He removed the little plastic cover and discovered the lock nut had loosened, luckily he had his socket set and was able to tighten it up. The passenger side lock nut was slightly loose so he tightened that too. We bought 2 coffees at the gas station to thank them for letting us wait out the storm and continued on our way. The moral of the story - check your nuts before setting out!
