I have always wondered if I switched the SOLAR panels between Series and Parallel, would there be a performance gain. So I came up with a circuit that should allow me to do that. The relay can be placed in the combiner box on the roof or if you run both SOLAR panel cables down to the charge controller it can be installed there. The shunt resister should be mounted next to the charge controller. As for the selector switch and the digital display, they can be mounted anywhere in the TT, a CAT5 cable will work fine for them. I put the schematic and notes in the Social Group pictures since it will not let me insert them in the post.
This basic design can be automated through the use of a microcontroller like the Arduino or Raspberry Pi a resistor and a photocell. With a short script you can keep the relay from flipping back and forth (due to clouds) between series and parallel by inserting a delay timer. This has not been tested yet.
