Waste of money IMO. 2 of them went bad, on the third. Always needing batteries, just to much of a hassle. Easier to use a key, won't buy it again.

Normal. Unless the roof is made with tongue and groove ply, there is no way to have flawless seams. You shouldn't have staples or nails coming up, nor seams over @ 2/8".
