Thanks for everyone's help. The battery was done for, and wouldn't hold a charge. Thus the converter overworked to keep the power going through the battery and died. I'm picking up a converter...

Thanks for the info. I'm going to get a charger to get through our trip. What type and size is recommended? Can I run these chargers off an extension cord to reach the battery?

I don't have a volt meter. I just plugged it to the car and the battery is charging/ lights are brighter. So is it the converter fuse?
