Mine has an access door to the hot water heater...

Mine has an access door to the hot water heater and electrical junction right behind the large hinged door under the mattress.

Sounds like yours is basically doing the same thing as mine but at the other end, I just picked mine up from the dealer last Friday and all they did was run a screw through the bench seat paneling...
