Thanks for the info. Can't say I'll miss replacing the rod. Spare plugs sounds like a good idea.

We just purchased a Jay Feather 22FQSW and I noticed that the water heater doesn't appear to have a sacrificial anode, only a plastic plug. Unfortunately our owners manual for the heater...
