We have liftoff. I connect to the slide-out switch black wire for 12v POS and to one of the many white wires running through the closet for 12v neg, and everything works.

I though it would be a ground also and used it as such but no luck.

I did test the whole unit out by connecting it to a 12v battery pack and sure enough the thermostat powers up and turns the a/c...
