I used a similar meter to monitor my 12v system. Put a momentary switch on it so it won't be on all the time. I really didn't want the blue glow at night.

The furnace uses your 12v battery for power so the 110 draw is what ever your converter draws to charge your batteries. In cold weather without hookups it can really drain a single battery.
