Transfer Switch
Right after lunch today I sat down to enjoy a nice afternoon nap with my a/c on. After about 30 minutes I smelled wire burning. A isolated it strongest in the basement. A quick call to my dealer service manager pointed me to the transfer switch. I opened the case and immediately saw the problem. Note the second wire from the right is supposed to be red. It was burned both above the terminal block and below about 2".
My service manager is absolutely great. He walked me through rewiring around the transfer switch so I will still have shore power until they can get a new switch in. I just won't be able to use my generator unless I want to wire it up direct in place of shore power. Obviously you can't have both hooked up at the same time without the transfer switch.
I checked several of the other non-burned terminals and several were loose. The message here is these should be checked. When a loose connection starts arching you end up with a burned connection as I have. This will be something I check yearly from now on or more frequently if I find a loose one again.
Fortunately for me this is a warranty issue 19 months into ownership.

I have found out since I wrote the original post that there is a recall with at least 2 manufacturers for this same unit. My dealer said mine would be replaced with another brand.

Ed, it's a good thing you smelled the hot wire and investigated. Sounds like you have a great dealer.

Write a letter to Jayco and see if they can clone him! At least let them know what a great dealer rep he is.

I have complimented my dealer to Jayco before and will do so in this case as well.
The offending transfer switch is the IOTA ITS-50R. A kind word for IOTA, I worked with them on a different one of their product lines before I retired. They are a quality company and they do stand behind their products. They just seem to have a problem with this one at this time. I would check and see which one you have if you have a generator or generator prep and contact Jayco is you have the one above.
Mine will be replaced by one from Progressive Dynamics I have been told.

After reading Ed's transfer switch comments, I checked our 2011 Pinnacle's transfer switch today, it is the Progressive Dynamics Switch.
While I had the cover off, I turned off the pedestal power and checked all the wire lugs, all were tight except one, only got about 1/8 turn on it.
Also I was impressed with the wiring / utility area behind the storage compartment panel where the transfer switch is.
The wiring runs were taped and secured to the framing with loop brackets and in general the area was neat.
It looks the Jayco assembly crew took pride in their jobs.
I have seen other brands where the wiring and such behind the storage area panel is a mess with nothing is secured.

The back of your panel looks almost exactly like the layout of mine Rob. I guess they didn't want to have to figure out how to re-route everything from the Designer Series to the Pinnacle.
One thing I see is your water pump, while it appears to be a different brand than mine, is mounted exactly the same way. Screwed onto a piece of wood on the floor.
Do you or anyone else reading this have any ideas how to add some silencing to this pump mount? Mine works great, but the sound is ridiculous. I'm thinking some rubber feet of some kind. Kind of like the rubber motor mounts, but obviously much softer rubber. Ideas guys? Now is the time to do it while the panel is open.

My Eagle is identical except for the type pump. I am also thinking about putting a silencing kit ( more flexible hoses) on mine and will be interested in how every one resolves the hammering.
I am also going to put my accumulator tank in there, only because someone gave me a 2 gallon one.
All I need is some time to think and do.

Ed, we have only used the water pump a couple of times, very briefly when the park we were at shut down the water for maintenance or repair.
When we used it, I could barely hear it running, it was much quieter than our old Eagle 5th Wheel was.

Did you notice the brand Rob? From your pictures it is a different brand then mine. Mine isn't horribly loud, but it is louder than I like which is why I was going to play around with insulating it from the wood some how.

Sorry Ed, I did not look at the brand / model # when I had the utility area cover off.
Looking in my manuals / paperwork that came with our Pinnacle, it says it is a "4008 RV By-Pass Pump - By SHURflo"

My dealer called yesterday and my new transfer switch is shipping on Monday. So within the next week or two they will come and install it. Then I will be ready to head to Florida at the end of April for my host position at a Florida State Park. I'm ready as my home base is getting a bit old.

rwilley, does your Eagle have a generator or generator prep? If you don't have the gen prep package you will not have a transfer switch.
If you do, look behind the panel in the basement under the steps to the bedroom/bath area. That is where mine is located.

Our 2011 Pinnacle has the Progressive Dynamics Transfer Switch, so I would guess if your 2012 Eagle has a transfer switch it would have the same brand as ours.
If you have a Factory Generator Prep, you will have a start button and hour meter inside by you tank switch panel.
Ours is the same location as Ed described.
Just have to remove the rear panel in the storage area.
