Water pump

Have a new greyhawk 31ds. We are on a month long trip to the northeast. I have noticed that when I am on park water (city fixtures), it sounds like the water pump is running all the time. I can switch valves to normal and the pump shuts off, but when I turn back to city fixtures the pump runs. is this normal ? Any thoughts?

Also the water pump seems to be pulsing in normal settings.

You should shut off your pump when you are drawing from a 'city water' source.

When you are connected to city water the pump is turned off.

When running off the fresh water tank, the pump is on. All water pumps seem to all pulsate a bit. To reduce the amount of pulsation you can add a small accumulator tank, after the pump.

When you are connected to "city water" the water pressure moves the water through the water lines. Your pump should be turned off. You only need the pump to supply water when you are using your fresh water holding tank.

We often go in campgrounds where there is no water hookup so for us it is natural to open the pump switch when we get installed. About a month ago we went to a campground that had a water hookup but we mistakenly put the pump switch at on and there was no water in the tank. A/C was on so we could not here the pump. We realized our mistake after 4 hours. Amazingly enough the water pump still works fine.

The pumps are very tough. They will run dry for hours without damage.

We turned our pump on before switching from city fill, now pump pulsates when using bath or kitchen faucets. Tankless water heater now also makes a 'clunking' noise when not in use.

You pumped air into the water system.

Re-purge.

Opened all faucets and showerheads, hooked up water and reset manifold to city use, then after everything was running smooth, shut down, disconnected, set manifold to normal, still pulsing.

This is what happened to me. I first made suer enough water was in the FW tank. I then turn on the tap long enough to pressurize it enough that the pump shuts off. I then switch the valves to city fixtures. The pump ran again with taps open but shut off after another 3-5 minutes.
